Casa Plunkett

San Roque Neighborhood, Santa Barbara, CA

3 bed / 2 bath
Year Built: 1927

Casa Plunkett is a 1927 Spanish home originally designed by renowned architect Joseph Plunkett, whose work helped shape much of Santa Barbara’s architectural character, including the historic Santa Barbara Airport.

When we first purchased the home, it was overflowing with charm and architectural integrity, though it had sadly fallen into disrepair and was no longer truly livable. Our goal was to thoughtfully restore its original soul while elevating it for modern living.

Throughout the renovation, we carefully preserved the home’s historic character — retaining original sconces, introducing antique lighting, and replacing the windows with custom wood sashes that honored the home’s original feeling while improving functionality and performance. Every decision was made with the intention of maintaining the integrity, warmth, and romance of the original architecture.

To this day, Casa Plunkett remains one of our favorite projects — a restoration that felt deeply respectful of the home’s history while giving it new life for years to come.
